Pinecone-In Foster 50% off's Story
Meet Pinecone, this boy came to us as a stray so we don't know much about his past. He is a little nervous at first, but has been warming up to his foster mom and is easy going for handling and enjoys his head scratches. Pinecone loves his veggies, hay and pellets, and uses his litter box 100%.

Pinecone is our resident "grump" and has some feelings about his stuff being moved around in his pen and prefers to not to have a lot of change in is living area. For this reason he is looking for a home with bunny experience and no small children.

He has been treated for an upper respiratory infection, and has likely had them in the past - because of this he should be an only rabbit in his new home.

The adoption fee a rabbit is $75.

As most of our small animals are in fostercare, if you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about this pet, the best way to start the process is to call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us at springfield@dakinhumane.org. If you already have a cage, please send a picture of your cage when you inquire.

We've made a video about how to set up rabbits for success! They are going to be spending most of their lives inside their cage; your housing must be as large as the below or larger (bigger is always better!) in order to adopt this pet.
-For rabbits we recommend x-pens/C&C type caging. Expect to spend around $100 on housing.
-Minimum requirements for enclosed spaces is 10 sq. ft. for 1-2 rabbits.
-No wire floors please - they are bad for bunnies' feet
- Check in with Dakin to see if there are any available housing options in their Thrift Shop!

Check out these great resources from the House Rabbit Society! Copy and paste into a browser window
Rabbit supply list - with links to learn more about what rabbits eat and how to house them
https://rabbit.org/rabbit-supply-list/
Rabbit FAQ - with info on everything you need to know about pet rabbits
https://rabbit.org/frequently-asked-questions/

Rabbits are a social species, meaning they usually enjoy the company of their own kind. If there are two names listed together (eg Peanut Butter w/Jelly), that means that the two animals are a bonded pair of friends, and must be adopted together.

-Got a single at home you're looking for a friend for? Any animal listed alone on our website is a single and a great candidate
-A new friend will need a separate cage until friendship has been established
-Our rabbits are all spayed/neutered at 4 months of age; as long as one or both rabbits are neutered, mixing genders is okay.
-It takes time and patience to let the rabbits make friends with each other.
