Merri's Story

Meet Merri and Pippin! These two good boys are about three months old. They are littermates and would be thrilled to be adopted together. Merri is the smaller of the two and Pippin is the fluffier guy.

They are hanging out with us at MHS currently but they lived in a foster home for a few weeks. Here is what their foster wanted you to know...

"These floofy babies are not tame yet. It will take time and patience for them to get comfortable with people. I suggest spending a lot of quiet time with them and not handling them any more than necessary.

They get along very well with each other, provided they have plenty of food and hay available. I often find them snuggling together by the water bowl and grooming each other.

They are very good with their litterbox, though they sometimes have accidents over the side if the walls are too short.

They will require their baby bunny diet for the next few months. They drink a lot of water, and I rinse and refill their bowl often. They also enjoy treats of pea flakes and romaine lettuce in small quantities.

They are comfortable but cautious being near me as long as I don't try to touch them. Merri is shyer and won't take anything out of my hand yet. Pippin is more outgoing and I can give him pea flakes by hand. When they feel safe near me, they are active and happy.

I suspect they will grow out of their skittishness as they mature and will welcome pets by the time they are full grown." -Merri and Pippin's foster mom.

Merri and Pippin are too young to be neutered. They will be neutered at six months old and we will contact their adopter when we have a surgery date scheduled. They will need to be adopted out on a rider/waiver and each bunny will require a $75 deposit. Their adopter will receive each deposit back after we have completed their neuter surgeries. Stop by MHS to meet Merri and Pippin!
