Meet Coming Soon - Bruce Wayne
**Bruce Wayne will not be available until the end of April**
Bruce Wayne was found as a stray in Los Lunas. The person who found him noticed that he seemed to have a leg injury so she contacted us and we took him into foster care where it became apparent that he could not use his back legs. We immediately took him to the vet and the x-rays showed that he had multiple pelvis fractures that caused his leg muscles to atrophy, as well as E.C.
Bruce has loving foster parents who patiently helped him through some physical therapy while also giving him E.C. medication. Slowly but surely, he started gaining mobility in his legs. Today, Bruce can binky and run.
We are not sure whether Bruce will continue improving or if his pelvis injury is permanent, but it is a minor disability. He does straight zoomies & hops differently than most bunnies, where his rear legs are almost always on tippy toes.
He loves to lounge in his bumper bed for extra support and to have his jaw/neck/spine/legs massaged. In order to keep his lower extremities strong for balancing issues, it is important to give him at least a puppy playpen of 6 'x 2' and extra room to roam/exercise regularly.
He has excellent litterbox habits. Bruce Wayne is eager to be pet and snuggled close to human faces (on the ground or supported firmly in a bumper bed on a flat surface). He grooms himself differently from most rabbits as well, and will need some assistance in removing dried flecks of eye crusties (rheum) from time to time. Bruce can only groom his head/ears/face one paw at a time (for balancing purposes). Because of this, he will do best as part of a bonded pair so that he has a life partner to help him.
In foster care, his pen is kept open during the day and he comes and goes as he pleases on a long hallway rug. He loves to look outside the window at birds! He does best on rugs/carpeting as he cannot balance on slippery floors (& can possibly hurt himself).
