Meet Tag in Maine is Adopted!!! Yay Tag!!

Tag is a dog who needs to catch one more break.

He is a hound mix, about 10 years old and 40#. If you are a compassionate person who has room in your heart for a loving dog and who desires to really make a difference for a deserving soul, please consider Tag.

Tag is a dog with many wonderful personality traits. He is loyal, loving, attentive and intelligent. He doesn’t go off leash, but loves hiking and winter beach walks. He also loves lying in sun patches. His favorite things are his people, walks, treats, toys, and sun spots.

We're sorry to say but life has also taken a bit of a toll on Tag. He can be anxious in new situations. He doesn’t care for car rides, skateboards, thunderstorms and rain. Children and strangers scare him so we will not place him in a home with children or where there would be regular contact with small children. He has a preference for women, though he does fine with some men once he gets to know and trust them. He'll need a stable and consistent home to continue to help to continue to reduce his fears..... poor guy, he's been thru so much.

Tag is friendly with some, but not all, other dogs. He needs time to get to know them so introductions would be very important. He currently lives with a cat and another dog.

Tag doesn’t like to be crated, but will sleep in it with the door open as a choice. He does not need to be crated at his age so a soft bed would probably make him just as happy. He has been allowed on furniture but not people beds. He is left loose in his home during the day.

History in Arkansas: He came into our partner shelter in Arkansas in 2006, when he was 4-5 months old. He followed a nice man home from his jog. Thus his name Tag, for 'tag' you're it. Poor Tag was covered in ticks and fleas, and was starving. His ribs were showing. Tag stayed with the man and his wife until there was room for him at the shelter.

History in Maine: Tag came to Maine, where he was adopted by a couple and lived with them for about a year. After the couple divorced, he came back to Almost Home Rescue and was adopted a second time. He was in this home for about 4 years, but ended up in our rescue again after his human mom developed a medical condition and couldn’t care for him. He has been in his third home for 4 years as well, and he’s now looking for a home that will last til the end of his days.

Tag is currently in a foster home in Maine. He is available for adoption through Almost Home Rescue of Maine. We require vet references and a home visit for adoption approval. All Adoption applications are completed on line at www.almosthomerescue.net
