Personality
I was initially described as shy by the shelter staff but I was just afraid! On my first day out I was petrified and didn’t even want to step inside my foster home. Well that lasted about one day and I am a super happy boy that gets excited every time I see my foster humans. I love to jump into your lap if you are sitting on a sofa or laying on the bed. Apparently, my foster humans don’t like pets in bed so I’m quickly learning my boundaries. Because I’m a good 50 lbs they are also teaching me to be a little gentler. I’m learning pretty fast and as long as you pet me I’m happy and I promise I’m not a licker or a slobber.
I LOVE to play with my foster siblings. We play with any toy available but tug-o-war, ropes, and balls are my favorite. We are still very much puppies and we play hard, sleep, and repeat.
Did I mention I’m athletic? I excel at long jump and high jump so if you are into agility training I’m your dog! I haven’t been out for a walk in the park or a hike yet because one of my foster humans has this thing in his leg and seems to be broken but I think I would be a good on-leash and off-leash companion.
I also have good guard instincts. When we are outside I will notify my foster humans of any suspicious activities. Once they acknowledge my concerns I stop my notifications immediately.
Cohabitation
I currently live in a household with two cats which I find boring and after my initial sniff I deemed them not worthy of my attention.
I also enjoy the company of an elder sister and a younger brother. I respect the elder and play hard with the puppy. I would really love if I’m not a single child in my furever home because I learn so much about being a doggy from them.
I do well on a leash and easily corrected if I need to pay more attention.
I’ve only had one accident indoors so I’m pretty good at this potty training thing.
I’ve learned that the word bed means I need to sprint to my crate because the treat that follows is yummy. I sleep all night with no crying. If you put me on the crate and you are still home I will share my unhappiness for a few minutes.
I learn commands quickly as long as my foster brother is not around. I get distracted and want to play instead of train. I have mastered the sit command and I come very quickly when my name is called and it’s time to come inside the house.
I have asymptomatic Lyme disease but because I’m so young the Vet just gave me some Antibiotics to be safe.
All HART dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines, including bordatella and rabies. They are heartworm tested and on preventative for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. If you are interested in any of our pets, you must complete an online dog adoption application at www.rescueAhart.org . The application will put you in touch with this wonderful dog's foster family so you can schedule a meeting. Thanks! www.rescueAhart.org
