Churro Chihuahua Mix Manhattan, KS

Churro was picked up as a stray in a large city and ended up in a medical isolation ward at the shelter when he was observed coughing. One of our fosters felt so bad for this social little critter that was on lockdown and got permission to go bail him out! He is over his cough and appears to be an otherwise perfectly healthy 8 month old Chihuahua that weighs in at 12 lbs. Churro came in with a few scrapes and scabs on his head and may have had to fight his way out of a few situations as a stray, so all new dogs and cats have to earn his trust. He puts on quite a show trying to act tough when he meets new animals! Within a week, he won over all of his doggie foster brothers and now they play and snuggle non-stop. He still chases the cat of the house out of the room every time, so may not warm up to the idea of cats in his space. He prances around like he owns the place and has a deep bark that does not match his little body! Churro is doing great with housetraining and has not had an accident since the first week, but he does rely on following the other dogs outside and going where they go. Churro has loved every person he has met so far and we think he would do well with children. He is great at walking on a leash and sleeps in his crate at night without a peep. Churro will need one more vaccine booster December 14th, but is otherwise all caught up on his vetting, is heartworm negative, and is already neutered and chipped.
