Brown Sugar American Staffordshire Terrier & Boxer Mix Manhattan, KS

OH! Hi: I did not see you come in. My name is Brown Sugar and I am a 3-4 year old female Staffordshire Terrier and Boxer mix puppy. I was found running loose and taken to a shelter where nobody came to claim me. That is when my foster dad came to save me and now I am a Purple PAWS dog. We did not have any information about my past, or even my name, so my foster dad named me Brown Sugar because I am about the same color and just as sweet as brown sugar.
I absolutely love everybody I have met and I get excited when you come to see me. In fact, I got so excited at first that I would jump up on you to get attention. My foster dad has been working with me and I am learning to sit when you come in and wait for my lovin’. I still jump up a little so a home without small children or people who are unsteady on their feet might be the best for me. I know sit and stay and we are working on how to come when called even though I will probably be following you wherever I can. I walk well on a leash but could use some more practice. My foster dad thinks I would make a great jogging companion. I am an active girl and will need walks, jogs, or a fenced yard to run and play so I can get my exercise.
I was a little timid when I first met my foster sister but in less than a day we were romping and playing tug-O-war. I was underweight when I came and love to eat but I have not shown any food aggression while eating and I even share treats with my foster sister. I have gained some weight (up to 53 pounds) and am a healthy girl. I have not had a chance to be in with the cats in my foster home but I have seen them through the fence. They are curious creatures and I have not shown any aggression toward them. One of them hissed and slapped at me so I just backed off and left her alone. I have seen the chickens roaming the yard and just ignore them.
I almost forgot to tell you, but belly rubs are the bestest thing ever. It feels so good it will make one of my back legs dance in the air when I get a belly rub. I have been spayed and up to date on my vaccinations. I tested negative for Heartworms, Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, and Ehrlichosis. I do have calluses on my hips that my doctor said are probably form being kenneled for long periods of time. My foster dad is working on getting the calluses removed.
