Meet Pixie

SALE!! ADOPT ME NOW FOR $65!! (must be adopted or have deposit down by 4/30)

We have a standard grey female chinchilla that is looking for her new home. Her name is Pixie! Pixie was taken by a good Samaritan from a bad situation, along with several other chinchillas. They separated males and females, and were able to find homes for the males. Then, Pixie had a baby, and shortly after, that good Samaritan was no longer able to care for them… so they came to us! Unfortunately, Pixie’s baby (Loki) was a male, so he is not able to stay with her, but Pixie is ready to find a new home of her own!

The previous owner did not know how old Pixie was. We know she is an adult, and we estimate that she is between 2-5 years old, but really she could be any age, as this is just our best guess.

Pixie’s color is called standard grey, which means she has a salt and pepper coloring over her back, with a white belly. The classic color in chinchillas.

Pixie is not a huge fan of human interaction or being picked up. If she’s really not in the mood, she may even spray you. Often, a nice stable home with some consistency can help this, as she has moved around quite a bit during her life. On most days, Pixie threatens to spray, rather than sprays, so there is hope for her! If you’re quick enough, you can get her out of her cage without her spraying you. And actually, once she’s out, she’s not nearly so spray-happy. Granted, she doesn’t want to chill with you either, but she’s not nearly so motivated to douse you with pee. She is able to be held – but she really would prefer to be out and about, and doing things. She definitely not the type of chinchilla that will cuddle with you for hours. She is a chinchilla that’s more on the active side, so we think playtime would be awesome for her, and would help get out some of her energy. Also, her previous home (the good Samaritan) told us that when she has playtime regularly, she tends to spray less, or even sometimes not at all. Progress! Pixie has never bitten anyone.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Mazuri pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. She will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

Pixie is located at our rescue in Hammond, IN (46324). Sorry, we do not ship.

The adoption fee for Pixie is $75
