Meet Minnie

We have an adult female guinea pig looking for her forever home. Her name is Minnie! Minnie was transferred into our rescue from a shelter in Wisconsin, with another guinea pig. Because she was with a male, she stayed with us for a while until she had cleared her pregnancy watch, and she is now ready to find a home of her own! Unfortunately, the people who surrendered Minnie to the shelter did not inform them of how old she was, so we do not know either. We would guess that she is a young adult, possibly about 1-2 years old.

Minnie is a tricolor (white, black, and red) American female guinea pig. The pictures don’t show how bright and vibrant her colors are, but she is GORGEOUS in person. Very pretty piggie!

Minnie is pretty outgoing and will come up to the front of the cage, to see what’s going on, and even better, to see if you have treats for her! She has quite the sweet tooth, and her new owners will need to be sure to feed her guinea pig food that is either all or almost all pellets (as in, no goodies mixed in), as she will eat the goodies and hold out, waiting for more goodies! She’s like a little kid picking out the marshmallows! She can have treats, of course, and she does enjoy them… just periodically. Minnie is your typical guinea pig, in that she may move away when you reach for her, but if you reach slow enough, you can often reach in and pet her without her scurrying away! When you have picked her up and are holding her in your arms, she is just the sweetest thing! She does great with being handled and petted and sits nicely in your arms. She does well with having his nails trimmed. She doesn’t bite.

Minnie actually came into the shelter living with her boyfriend Mickey (who has already found his new home – yay!). They were separated before we got them, due to being opposite sex, though the shelter told us that they got along well together, so Minnie might get along with other guinea pigs. Of course, we cannot guarantee that any pigs will get along.

This guinea pig will come with some food to start you out with (2 pounds of guinea pig pellets) and a printed out version of our guinea pig care packet. We also have additional supplies for sale, such as cages, food, food bowls, water bottles, hidey houses, and more.

Do you need a cage? We have multiple cages for sale, everything from smaller guinea pig cages to larger ones. You can purchase a cage from us, similar to what she is living in for $25. We also have this type of cage (used) -- https://www.petsmart.com/small-pet/cages-habitats-and-hutches/cages/midwest-guinea-pig-habitat-plus-5171984.html -- for $30.

Regardless of past guinea pig experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our guinea pig care packet and fill out our adoption application/guinea pig questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No guinea pig will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

Mickey is located in Hammond, Indiana (46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

The adoption fee for Minnie is $25
