Big Guy Chinchilla Chinchilla Wolcott, IN

We have a standard grey male chinchilla that is looking for his new home. His name is Big Guy (though actually, he is a normal sized, if not small, chinchilla). Big Guy came to the rescue not long ago, along with another chin (Mr. Bennington, caged separately), when his owner was moving cross country and was unable to take the chinchillas with him. We have down that Big Guy is about 3 years old, born approx. 3/2016. Great age to add him to your family!

Big Guy’s color is called standard grey, which is the classic color in chinchillas – a greyish color over his back, with a white belly.

Big Guy is currently residing at one of our foster homes in Chicago, IL. Here’s what his foster home has to say about him:

“Big Guy has been adjusting really well! Even on the first day, he was hopping around the cage and letting us pet him. He doesn’t necessarily come to the cage when you open the door, but let’s you give him neck and ear scratches. His favorite types of treats are the more fragrant ones like the flower buds (rosebuds) and rosehips. He also likes cheerios. Big Guy just zips around the cage all the time, he’s a very swift fella. My roommate does a routine every day where she puts her hand in the cage and he will nibble her hand or her sleeve for a sec, then sit on her hand, but he’ll scurry away if you try to pick him up. He likes to kick his bedding into his food bowl, which is silly, but he’s a very sweet lil guy. My roommates like to call him Curious George.”

Big Guy has never bitten anyone, though may nibble (as noted above), like all chinchillas.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Mazuri pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

Big Guy is located at one of our foster homes in Chicago, IL. He can be adopted out directly from his foster home, or he can be brought back to the rescue to be adopted out. Please allow for time to schedule an appointment due to him being in a foster home. Thanks for your understanding.
