Meet Meg

I am a 2 and a half year old, 66 lb. female
The best guess at my breed is: Great Pyr/Anatolian Shepherd Mix
I would be good in a home with: Dogs
I prefer a home without: Young children, I haven't met cats yet

I am a medium energy girl. I love to play with other dogs and chase them in circles! It's so fun being in the yard with my friends.

Once I feel comfortable around you, I'm very sweet, playful, and loyal. Once someone gives me the time to settle and feel more secure in a home, I will blossom into a wonderful companion.

With my favorite volunteers,I love to cuddle (big spoon or little spoon? it's up to you). I like to be brushed and spoiled, and I am a very good listener. I know how to sit, give both paws, high five, and lay down.

I am house trained and not destructive when left alone.

Because I am unsure of strangers at first, I would prefer to not live with small children.

We are open every day - just give the shelter a call at 508-999-7387 to make sure a volunteer is available to show you around or shoot us an email to set up an appointment lighthouseanimalshelter@gmail.com

We hold an adoption day at the shelter every Saturday from 12:00PM-5:00PM. No appointment is necessary to stop by on Saturday during those hours.

You can find a printable version of our application on our website (www.lighthouseanimalshelter.org), if you would like to expedite the process, or you can wait to fill one out at the shelter when you visit.

Please call all of your references (landlord, if applicable, vet(s) and personal references) before filling out an application to let them know that we will be calling. We are an all-volunteer program and volunteers often make reference calls from their personal phone. It may be a number your personal reference does not recognize. We're totally cool with our calls being screened but please just tell them to keep an eye on their voicemail and give us a call back at their earliest convenience.

Once we receive your application, we will check home ownership or landlord permission, personal references and vet references. If approved and selected as the best match for a dog that you'd like to adopt, we would then set up a home visit and bring the dog, and if that goes well, then the dog would stay for a home trial and finalize the adoption in a week to 10 days generally. We do not adopt on a first come, first serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches.

Our adoption fee is $375 ($390 if paid by PayPal) which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue.
