Chloe Chihuahua Houston, TX

Chloe is a tiny 8-week old Chihuahua puppy who we expect to reach about 7-9 pounds when full grown. She and her sister Monroe were found on the street at about 5 weeks of age and brought to us by a Good Samaritan. According to the AKC, Chihuahuas are “among the oldest breeds of the Americas with a lineage going back to the ancient kingdoms of pre-Columbian times.”

The personalities of the puppies are just beginning to emerge. Typical of their breed, they are curious, charming, graceful and sassy. Even at their young age these little girls are developing spirit, attitude and swagger. They have rounded “apple” heads, which is considered a hallmark of their breed. Their floppy (soon to be erect) ears and full luminous eyes are hugely expressive.

Chihuahuas possess loyalty, charm and big-dog attitude. They do require training because without it they will rule your household like a little Napoleon. They are too small for roughhousing with kids but are good travelers and can easily go anywhere with their owners. They make perfect city pets and are well suited for owners living in apartments. Chihuahuas are delightful and adaptable just as long as they get lots of quality time in their preferred lap.

Limited weekday APPOINTMENTS may be available Mondays-Wednesdays. We have a first come, first served policy. We use a number system. QUALIFIED and APPROVED adopters possessing the lowest number will have the opportunity to visit and apply for a SINGLE DOG of their choice from the remaining available dogs. At our sole discretion, we reserve the right to make rare exceptions to this policy. Numbers may be obtained on Saturdays as early as 7am in the lobby of Prestonwood Kennels. Once a visitor obtains a number it is not necessary to wait around so long as he/she is present with a number at our 11am gate opening. After 11am, numbers are obtained - if necessary - under the check-in tent in the magic garden.

All the dogs are spayed/neutered, current on shots, and parasite / heartworm checked (and treated if positive). All dogs are trained to use a doggie door. Adoption Fees vary.
