Pop German Shorthaired Pointer Prairie Village, KS

Pops is a wonderful 8 year old German Shorthaired Pointer male. He was picked up as a stray in Wichita and was rescued from the shelter there after he was placed on their euthanasia list for heartworms. Well, a few heartworms has never stopped us from saving a dear GSP!

Pops is definitely a dear boy. He is so calm, so sweet, so easy going. In his foster home he's met lots of different children, young dogs, old dogs, he's gone on road trips, he's even gone BOATING! This dog takes it all in stride. His foster mom thinks he might even make a fantastic therapy dog, with an adopter who understands how to complete that training.

Now to the heartworm situation. Pops has undergone 30 days of doxycycline medication, and next he'll get one injection to kill the adult heartworms, and in another 30 days, he'll get another two injections. Pops is available to a home that can help us complete those injections (we pay for all the treatment, but he could go to his new home in the meantime while he's completing those).
