Meet Prince

Meet Prince, a 1.5-2 year old Canaan/lab mix!
Prince was found alone in the Kuwaiti desert on January 5, 2018. He exhibited signs of having been abused including cowering, avoiding eye contact, trembling uncontrollably and urinating on himself, and he had obviously been tied up at some point because he had a deep indentation in the fur around his neck.

It took Lisa and her husband Curtis almost 2 weeks to get close enough to him to capture him at which point they noticed 3 deep wounds on the top of his head that were badly infected. He was taken to Royal Animal Hospital in Kuwait where they were told that he had been badly beaten and struck over the head with a heavy, sharp object.
He required sedation to clean and close the head wound and for several days he was peeing blood due to bruised kidneys likely sustained from being kicked or punched. He had many other injuries in varying stages of healing and had obviously suffered in ways that were difficult to comprehend in his short time on this earth.
Despite all of this, he would still manage a lethargic thump of his tail, a lift of his head, or a sniff of the hand whenever a veterinary staff member, Lisa or I would talk to him and pet him..
Fast forward to Prince’s arrival in the United States. He was physically healthy but still very cautious and tentative; however, he was no longer trembling uncontrollably or peeing on himself. During those first 7-10 days (spent with me and my 3 small dogs), we were witnesses to an incredible transformation. Prince was becoming a much more social and playful young dog and was learning to trust the new humans in his life.
The progress we expected to take months to achieve was happening over a period of days. Today, Prince is not even recognizable as the same dog that was found beaten and abused in the desert only a few short months ago. He is full of spunk and energy, loves to play with other dogs and can’t get enough of neck scratches, belly rubs. He loves chewing on a juicy bone or squeaking away with one of his new toys.
While he initially kept to himself on his bed in a corner he has become quite the social dog whether he is lying contentedly on the floor at my side or happily playing with his toys or other dogs.
Please consider adopting Prince and giving him the chance at a life that he so greatly deserves! If interested, please contact Debbie at: 570-262-2092
