MUFFIN Shih Tzu Lincoln, NE

She’s a small, fluffy, and sweet little loaf who is on a mission to steal your heart! Muffin is just about as perfect as they come. She is very well-mannered and calm but she can also have her own goofy “wild” side. She enjoys a good nap on a comfy dog bed but she will also play with toys, people, and other pets. This old lady looks SO cute while playing, and when she is really worked up she’ll do “zoomies” around the house. Muffin gets along with cats and other dogs of all sizes and can be playful with other dogs if they are willing participants. Muffin is potty trained and kennel trained. She enjoys her kennel but she doesn’t use it much since she has such great house manners and does great being left to snuggle on her dog bed. Muffin is an observer and is perfectly content just watching you with her puppy dog eyes (but every now and then she’ll be at your feet, piping little barks until you pet her!!). When you scratch muffin her she grunts and “oinks” approvingly. Muffin does not live with children in her foster home but we are confident she would do well with older children who will respect and play nicely with her (we don’t think she would be fond of the bustle of small children). Muffin has some corneal scarring in her left eye but gets around just fine. Muffin is a joy to be around and she can’t wait to find her perfect family!

Muffin is a ShihTzu, weighs 10 lbs and was born approximately 2-14-10. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed. She has a condition called "dry eye" which is common in the ShihTzu breed. She will need to have daily drops to keep her eyes moist & happy. Muffin is undergoing life-saving treatment for heartworm disease. She will need to remain on heartworm preventative for life, as is recommended for ALL dogs, and retested in 6 months to ensure she is heartworm free. Adoption fee is $275 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. The FIRST step is to have you complete our online adoption application. All adoption appointments are scheduled after your application has been approved. Since all of our pets are in foster homes and not a facility, we hold adoption appointments once a week on either a Saturday or Sunday, during scheduled time period. We need ALL family members or those living within your home, to be present for an appointment. Preference is given to those with a verifiable veterinary reference and home ownership, although generally not required. Home ownership is verified through court records.
