We are getting PUPPIES! Yes, we have 5 precious, wriggly black lab puppies come into rescue from down south the first week of March. Also, please remember that puppies do take commitment and a lot of work for the first 12-18 months. These little ones will need continued socialization to new sights and sounds so they grow up to be brave adults, ready to cope with noises of the city and new people. All puppies, but particularly labs, need a lot of daily exercise (and just letting the dog out in the yard doesn't count!) -- plan on at least an hour of brisk walking or running, fetch, or trips to play with other dogs each day. Puppies also chew things like high heels, children's toys, and other objects while they learn basic manners. And speaking of that, puppies need potty training and to learn the rules of the house using positive reinforcement training. We say all this because it's easy to look at those little bodies and completely forget that they will grow into very big paws who need time and attention.

But of course, puppies are a lot of fun too and will give you a lifetime of love and loyalty. We can't wait to find this group their homes!
