Meet King Tut

This is King Tut, a Persian/Angora cross who came to us from a sister rescue all the way from Cairo, Egypt. He came with four other Persians, and all have the original doll face that Persians used to have before Americans started breeding for the flat face. (The other four Persians have since been adopted.) The flat faced breeding we have in the states created many health problems with their eyes and sinus cavities as well as genetic issues attributable to inbreeding. But not these cats!
These Persians are considered the "mutt cat" in Cairo, and accordingly, have more robust health. King Tut is in terrific health and has his very own Passport to prove his good health and past medical treatment received prior to travel. Additionally, Tut has an almost non-existent startle reflex. Very little frightens him, whether its loud noises, surprises, other animals, etc. We believe it has much to do with his prior home, as all of the Persians who come to us from Egypt have this same quality.
King Tut is the most playful of the group, and considers almost anything a possible toy. He follows humans around and is very interactive with people, and if you are sitting down, he may just leap up into your lap. His coat is coming in longer and fuller, since his arrival on 10-31-17, and the texture has already become softer, likely due to the high protein feed he is given here at Spunky's.
King Tut enjoys being held like a baby on his back, but also enjoys being worshiped like the Egyptian king he is. Unless or until he sees a toy you're holding, then he forgets that he's a king and really gets into and enjoys a good play session. Tut also loves catnip, and not only eats a bit of it, but likes to spread it out so he can roll around on and in it and get it all over himself.
Tut also really likes dogs, and would enjoy having a dog buddy.
Interestingly about his coat, although its longer and fluffier than the pictures show, he does not seem to mat or do a great deal of shedding (unlike some Persians.) He still likes to be pampered and brushed, though, and closes his eyes in relaxation.
If you are interested in meeting him, please contact us. An adoption donation of $300 applies to help us to recoup the costs of transportation.
Please also be aware that he is an inside cat. The photos were taken in our fenced and netted garden.
NOTE: Spunky's is a not-for-profit charitable organization. 100% of all donations and adoption fees go back into the saving and caring for these animals.
Our animals come from a variety of situations, and some come in off the street, in poor health, or very sick. Others might have emotional issues or permanent physical issues caused by abuse.
Please understand that some of our cats may still be in their "before" stage, whether its convalescing from illness or injury, learning to trust, or something as simple as beginning to thrive on regular meals and good nutrition.
We do not participate in any breeding or sales. All cats are or will be altered prior to adoption.
Our adoption agreement allows for the return of any adopted animal at any time for any reason, and requires an animal to be returned if the adopter's circumstances should change and the animal can no longer be kept.
