Charlies adoption is ON HOLD for now during his training process.

Charlie is a handsome 15 month old lab mix who came to us from an animal shelter in Toronto. He was very stressed in the shelter and needed the comfort and care of a foster home. Charlie was surrendered by owners who worked long hours and he was left on his own most of the time.

Charlie requires slow and proper introductions to people and needs time to feel safe around people. Once you have gained Charlie's trust you've got a friend for life. His foster parents tell us he is a loving, goofy and playful guy. Charlie’s foster family are working with him to grow his confidence around people and in new situations. He has been making great strides in his training, his adopter must be willing to continue with this work. At this time,Charlie is especially nervous around men, children and large groups of people. He is incredibly smart and eager to please, also food motivated which is a huge plus for training. Charlie is a large, strong dog and will require an adopter with experience and willingness to continue with his training.

Charlie is a high energy dog and will need plenty of daily exercise. He would not do well in a home where he will be left along for long hours.

Charlie is sharing his foster home with another dog and they get along. Charlie loves meeting and playing with dogs outside. It is likely he would do well with another friendly young dog - a meet and greet would be necessary. Charlie’s adopter must be patient and willing to work with building Charlie’s confidence. We feel a house with a fenced back yard in a relatively quiet neighbourhood would be ideal for Charlie. We will only consider an adult home for Charlie (18 years +).

Charlie is very affectionate and his foster mom tells us he is a grade A snuggler.

Charlie is healthy and weighs 84 pounds. He is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on his vaccinations.
