Meet Pierre

UPDATE June 27-17: Pierre has a meet and greet scheduled with a potential family. If it doesn't pan out he will still be available.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

To say that things haven't been easy for Pierre would be an understatement. At 10 years old, he is a Miniature Poodle that spent his life being kept by an elderly couple who didn't provide him with decent care. He came to HART with a horribly matted coat and a long list of resulting health issues. Most significant were his dental problems. His teeth were rotten and infected to such an extent that the roof of his mouth had begun to rot away. We can only imagine the pain he had endured. HART has ensured that he received great veterinary care and he has now had dental surgery to remove his teeth and repair his mouth. It was a tough recovery, since he also came to us with a cough. But Pierre could be the poster dog for canine resilience. He is demonstrating how he feels better and better each day of his recovery. He also has been diagnosed with a heart murmur and a luxating patella on one back knee. Neither of these issues are significant and cause him no trouble and he is ready to be welcomed by the kind of family he deserves.

Because he's such a gentleman, he would think it rude of us to only focus on his improving health. He would like you to know that he is polite, quiet, well-mannered and above all loyal -- he loves to be close to his family and is always near by. Pierre's foster family says he's a sweet boy that is only just coming out of his shell. He's even started to show signs of being playful! Pierre loves to go for walks and gets very excited when he sees his leash come out! He's good in the house and has not required a crate. Understandably he gets a little anxious and whines a little when he's left alone for too long. He does have the company of a canine pal in his foster home and they get along well.

Pierre would make a sweet, loving and affectionate companion to a family who can show him that the next years of his life are going to be nothing like the first years. If you can make room for Pierre help him experience how great life can truly be, please apply to adopt him.

If you'd like to adopt Pierre, please read about HART's screening process and download an adoption application to submit from the website: http://www.hartdogrescue.ca/adopt

An adoption donation of $350 applies and a fenced yard is required. Pierre is neutered, up to date with his vaccines, microchipped. He is approximately 10 years old and weighs 15 lbs.

Pet listings are updated daily. Unless it says otherwise at the top of this bio, this dog is still available for adoption.
