Meet Winston

Hi! My name is Winston. I am a male Labrador Mix (terrier vs. poodle) born in August 2016. I was diagnosed with megaesophagus in January 2017. “Megaesophagus is a generalized enlargement of the esophagus -- a muscular tube connecting the throat to the stomach -- with a decreased to absent motility.” – petmed.com | http://caninemegaesophagusinfo.com/

Please read more about ME here: http://caninemegaesophagusinfo.com/

I am in need of a human companion who can care for my special needs and will benefit from all the love I have to give in return. My current caregiver is a veterinarian in Tacoma, WA who has temporarily agreed to foster me. Her schedule does not permit for the change in feeding routine I need to try. Being fed 3-4 times a day could be more effective than my current 2 times a day. I have a Bailey Chair that I get into easily for my meals.

For the most part I keep my food down, but if I do get into anything I shouldn’t, even water, I regurgitate. I wear a muzzle when I am scouring the house or on a walk to prevent me from eating things that will make me sick.

I will do best in a home that has other dogs like me or where I am an only dog so that I can’t get into the other dogs water and food. I love to play with dogs and to crush any type of plastic. It is so fun to go hiking or to the dog park to run. I am very athletic and would be a great agility or obstacle course dog. I listen fairly well when off leash (i.e. I come back when called), but I love to play ‘catch me if you can’ when I have something I shouldn’t.

I am great in my kennel. I sleep in it all night from 9:30pm to 8am with no fuss. During the week, I am kenneled during the day, though I do go on a short walk in the middle of the day to go potty. I behave well at bath time, which I get once every 2 weeks.

I hope that you will consider adopting me into your family. If you cannot adopt me, then please help me find my forever family by sharing my story!
