Charlie - Compassionate Care Australian Shepherd Kentville, NS

Charlie is a typical Australian Shepherd. He is smart and learns easily. He is very reserved with new people or situations but once he warms up, he is fine. He loves to snuggle and follows his people everywhere. He loves nothing better then to be outside and watch over his home. He alerts us to anyone who comes near us.

Charlie came from out of province as an owner surrender. He was going to be euthanized because of a diagnosis of Addison's Disease which is treatable. Fortunately, we have an expert in our foster ranks so an Aussie Rescue raised the money to send Charlie to NS to become a misfit. All money raised through go fund me was given to us for his care. In the early months, his Addison's symptoms decreased and his stamina and general health improved. Then, new medical issues developed, not typical of Addison's. After many tests, we learned that Charlie also has chronic renal insufficiency (kidney disease). And so, Charlie is listed as compassionate care. While we have no idea how quickly Charlie's kidney failure will progress, we do know that he does have a wonderful foster home and beloved dog pal to live out his life, however long that will be. He will have all the love, support and vet care that he needs. His home will be with all of us, the Misfit Manor Dog Rescue community. We will be his compassionate care family with the loving and considerate help of his wonderful foster Mom.
