Valentina Poodle Mix Cincinnati, OH

Valentina is a character! She is quite a talker at times and it often sounds like she's saying I LOVE YOU! It's pretty cute. She's a petite girl, around 8 pounds, and she is thought to be about 12 years old. She has beginner cataracts but they don't seem to affect her vision. She seems to be hard of hearing though - sometimes she seems deaf, but then she seems to respond so perhaps she hears certain sounds or maybe she's just selective and stubborn and a very sound sleeper! Valentina gets along fine with other dogs and with cats. She hasn't met kids other than at adoption events but she hasn't been nippy so she would probably be fine meeting kids but she's a bit fragile so we think a home with older kids would be best for her. She knows to potty outside and usually potties almost as soon as she hits the grass, but she doesn't seem to know she also shouldn't go in her crate so that will be a little work for her family. When Valentina first arrived, she somehow dislocated her hip (vet thinks maybe another dog bumped her - little dogs of her breed can be fragile - so she spend 10+ days on cage rest and it healed well - it stayed in the socket and she's doing great! Valentina is hand-shy when you go to pet her on the head - someone must have hit this poor sweet girl! She's a sweet girl who likes to give kisses, loves to drink all her water, and loves treats! Please do not just show up at an adoption event and expect to adopt a dog that day - we need time to review your application ahead of time, which is why we ask that you submit your application ahead of time so you don't miss out on the dog you are hoping to adopt while you wait for your application to be reviewed. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, dewormed, heartworm tested (if over 9 months of age), and microchipped. We do not adopt outside our area, which we define as two hours drive time from downtown Cincinnati (zip code 45202 - use Google Maps to determine if you are within our area) NO EXCEPTIONS. This is for the safety of our dogs, so that in case an adoption does not work out, we can be sure that we can quickly get our dog back. We do not have a shelter or facility - all of our dogs live in volunteer foster homes. In order to not infringe on any more of the time of our foster families, we introduce our dogs to potential adopters at our weekend adoption events posted on our website - please do not request to meet the dog outside of an adoption event as we are unable to grant the request.
