Caia - Loves people, pups and kitties too! Pit Bull Terrier Cleveland, OH

Welcome to rescue Caia!

Caia (Ki-a) is a beautiful blue Pit Bull, about 1 year old. She weighs about 55 pounds. Now that she is in rescue, she has been fully vetted and on her way to a completely healthy, happy life. Caia is friendly with dogs and cats too, with proper introduction of course. She can be a bit overwhelming (or "rude") simply to due to her excitement & energy level, so proper introductions are key!

Caia LOVES to play with nylabones, ropes, balls, anything that she can get her paws on. She is still a puppy, and it seems to us that she didn't get a lot of guidance in her past life, so she is getting lots of great training now (her foster home is a trainer). We are looking for a home who has time for an energetic pup, as well as the patience and experience to continue the training she is receiving.

When she first came to us, she was a bit stressed, which is normal. She was afraid to walk through the doorway into the house, didn't know what a couch was, and was sure that everything taller than her would fall on her. We had to take things slowly to make her comfortable. Now that she is comfortable, we are working on learning "house rules" and impulse control. She has learned to love her crate, which is where all good things happen! We also give Caia puzzles and food toys so she learns how to properly use her brain. She is sometimes a little timid when meeting new people, but warms up quickly with lots of positive reinforcement.

Caia was found running around the streets of Cleveland Heights, no owners could be located. The finder had a puppy who played with Caia and senior cat that Caia was respectful of. We can share a photo if you wish.

We recently admitted Caia to rescue, so we're still getting to know her and helping her adjust to her new life. We will update this listing with more details as we learn more things about Caia. Thanks!

Update: We discovered that Caia LOVES the snow! She will run around in it, licking and eating the little snowballs that she creates! Sometimes she is so excited by the snow that she forgets to go to the bathroom. How funny it is to watch her act like a "kid in a candy store!"


Please note: You must be at least 28 years old to adopt a dog from us - unless you are able to demonstrate a mature lifestyle. We are NOT able to adopt to renters, sorry! The prospective owner must agree to a screening process that includes an application, phone interview, pre/post adoption home visits and the signing of an adoption contract. Our goal is to find the best match for our dogs and their new families, so that everyone lives happily ever after.

We prefer homes who want to go to an obedience class. Training strengthens the bond and trust that you have with your dog, and it's fun, for both of you! Dogs like to think and to be mentally challenged. Contrary to what many people think, they don't want to be couch potatoes. The training you do together will be an investment in the future.
