Duke--Shy, Gentle Sweetheart Labrador Retriever & Terrier Mix Chicago, IL

Duke is a dog with all the potential in the world to becoming the perfect pet. He is timid and nervous around new people and places but with patience, he settles in and relaxes. Around his favorite people, Duke is a playful and silly puppy but always very sweet.

Duke is the sweetest dog I've ever met and very curious. In his home, he loves to play but is also the perfect companion to binge watch a season with. He sleeps through the night, has no known food aggression or aggression in general, willingly goes in his crate, and is almost 100% house broken. He had a few accidents when he has become very nervous or was not let out early in the morning. But this is easily fixed with a schedule.

He prefers to be around his people as much as he can but Duke can be trusted and left in a crate for short amount of times with his favorite peanut butter kong. He will whine but will eventually settle.

Duke sometimes has trouble walking through doorways and down stairs, but with patience, he has gained great strides each day and is easily going up and slowly going down the 3-floor walk up he is fostered in. He is getting more comfortable walking outside in the city with the loud noises and sounds. With patience, he has been able to easily walk a few blocks at a time. As he continues to do so, Duke will become a fantastic walker.

Duke recently went to the office with his foster parent and though he was nervous at first he settled in, as he ate and snoozed by her desk. Even when Duke is nervous he is never fear aggressive in any way; he's just a shy guy who needs some confidence building.

This adorable guy has the softest coat and everyone who meets him just wants to love on him. He's about 5-6 months old, around 30 lbs, and is now vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
