Tonka Shepherd & American Staffordshire Terrier Mix Nashville, TN

Hello everybody! My name is Tonka. I am a 2 1/2 yr old American Staffordshire Terrier. I know, the common name for me is a Pit or Pitty and I realize that some of my fellow friends have encountered some very unfortunate situations but I am here to tell you that you can't judge a dog solely on its breed. While all breeds have characteristics that are common to them, we are all different and I would love the opportunity to show you just how wonderful I am. CHECK ME OUT....I have been featured in the Tennessean before I came to the Music City Animal Rescue and in February, I am going to be the COVER DOG for the Nashville Paw Magazine!!
I am known as "the snuggler"! I love to get on the couch or in the bed right next to you and watch a movie or take a little nap. I can also be very energetic! I love to run and play games like tug-of-war. As you can read in my bio., I'm a healthy boy so if you want to wrestle, be prepared, because I am strong - but gentle.
Want to go for a ride in the car? Oh boy, me too!! And on the way, let's stop by Sonic. I have a thing for their cheeseburgers!
I am housebroken, crate trained, neutered, up to date on all of my vaccinations and microchipped. I am not a "barker" and I am not destructive. I LOVE PUPPIES and other dogs and kids (big or small) but remember, I'm a big boy and might be rough when I play so kids 7 yrs old or older might be good just so we can really play together.
With all of this wonderfulness, I know you are wondering why I have not found my forever home. Well, I have ONE vice! I do NOT like cats or kittens. No matter how many times people have tried to get me to make friends, it just won't happen. The same goes for little animals like rabbits or hamsters etc.... I can't explain it because I LOVE PUPPIES. Even the tiny ones. I sniff them and lay with them but there is just something about a cat that gets me.
