Lucy Maltese & Poodle Mix Phoenix, AZ

Lucy is a 6yr old female Poodle looking for her forever home. She is hypoallergenic/non shedding and weighs in around 15lbs. We saved this girl from the county shelter after her owner surrendered her. Unfortunately, her previous owner did not disclose that Lucy is diabetic and we had to learn the hard way. She became sick, and after seeing our vet we learned what we should have known all along. But Lucy is a fighter and it didn't take long to get her healthy again. She has been in a loving foster home for almost a year now. Sadly, because she's diabetic, no one really gives it a thought to adopt her. If people only knew how easy it is to control diabetes for dogs! She has a lot of love to give and a very normal happy life to live, as long as someone feeds her on a regular schedule and tends to her insulin shots which are super easy to give. Lucy makes it so easy that she actually lies down to get her shots. Insulin is not expensive, so overall, doggy diabetes isn't a bad problem to have :) She has just about the best heart in the world, loves to play, is loving and mellow, and loves to go for walks. Lucy would be okay as an only dog, but if you have a friendly compatible dog, she'd like that too. She's also good with gentle kids -- and even enjoys playing with cats. She's rides nicely in the car, enjoys car rides, and walks with a bounce in her step when she's on a leash. She is also housebroken and well behaved. Please consider giving this very darling girl a home. She needs someone who is just as sweet and special as she is and we want nothing but the best for her. Lucy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, chipped, dental done, vet checked, licensed, comes with 30 days of free pet insurance, and comes with a free vet visit. Her adoption fee is $160. She will go home with her insulin, her monitor, needles, and we are on call for any future questions.
