Ahoy Matey! My name is Pirate because of the patch above my eye and my saluting ear. I like to play with squeaky toys but my favorite thing to do is play with other dogs. All my foster siblings love me. I love to go for walks and I am great on the leash.

I can be a bit of a scardy dog – especially with children. That is why I need to be in a home without kids. But ask my foster mom, I am very gentle and loving. She calls me a little love sponge.

I follow my people around the house – I have to keep track of them. And if you sit down to take a break, I will jump into your lap for a petting.

I promise you, with my beautiful blue eyes and my sweet loving nature, I will steal your heart.

If you would like more information on Pirate, please contact Jennie at JennieDDR@yahoo.com.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination.

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming.

Spay/Neuter.

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

VETTING NOTE: Double Dog Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. If anything is brought to our attention, we treat the dog. After adopting the dog, you will be responsible for following up with all vetting going forward.

HEARTWORM NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 5-6 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
