Meet Joy

Howdy, I’m Joy! If you have a minute I would like to tell you my story, perhaps once you hear it you will want to meet me! I really don’t have much recollection of my life before I came to the shelter, I was lost and someone picked me up and eventually I got to BENCHS, but once I got there it was FABULOUS! I had 2 and sometimes 3 square meals a day, I was taken out for walks at least once a day if not 2, I had a warm bed to lie on, I could go outside my kennel when the weather permitted and I was treated really nice by the humans at the shelter. Well…there was that one time I fainted...that human put her hands where no one should be touching me! What can I say? I am a DRAMA QUEEN!

Yeah, I was unruly, but who wouldn’t be. I really hadn’t ever had human interaction so I didn’t know what to do. In the beginning of my stay at the shelter a couple of humans took interest in me, but I guess I didn’t do so hot with their other dogs. My bad. Then the humans stopped wanting to meet me. I was right out front with all the other dogs that were ready to go home, I was always really excited to see the humans looking through the glass, they just laughed at me, but didn’t want to meet me. My nickname became Jumping Joy Flash. I just didn’t understand what anyone wanted from me.

Then I was moved to another shelter type place and those humans spent time with me every day, several times a day! My favorite human was Tony. Tony and I really got to know each other well. He was extremely patient with me, never raised a hand or voice to me yet he showed me the error of my old ways. I spent 45 days up there! I am no longer Jumping Joy Flash. When I got back to the shelter I was ready to show everyone my new tricks! I was even on Pick of the Litter, on TV! Yet, no one came to meet me and the kennel really started bugging me.
Now I am at a foster home and having the time of my life. The humans are super cool and I even play with the other dogs. The best part of my day is when the daycare children come! They love me for who I am. However, I know I can’t stay here forever. This is just a stepping stone in my journey and I am ready for a permanent place to call my home.

Now, you have obviously read to the bottom of my story and here’s the really cool part! Let me list all the things I am now perfectly cool with: I love other dogs, I can be crated over night with no accidents and I am 90% housebroken. I know the following commands: Sit, lay down, leave it, come, no and kennel (might need a reminder once in a while, cause I am hound with an AWESOME nose that distracts me on occasion). The first time I met cats I bellowed at them and pointed, I don’t think I can leave them alone so a home with no cats is preferred.

Please email rrps@hickorytech.net to schedule a meeting with me! I am looking forward to meeting you!
Love, Joy
