Ajax - update Feb 1 Saint Bernard & Boxer Mix St Stephen, NB

Update Feb 1: Ajax still learning but he now pretty much will always down when the walking stops. He doesn't always get treats for this now, to up his game. A lot of people walking the trail in the distance resulted in him sitting with his back to them. He is not quite ready to do this with people/dogs closer to him, but the goal is to get him to just be able to mind his own business. A hands free belt helps. Ajax has made great progress in not being distracted by sounds and movement. Ajax would do best as an only pet where his people could work on consistency and building up his self-control. Ajax has been okay with some dogs, however, he would be a lot for an average home to handle with another dog. Ajax needs a cat free adult home or a home with older teenagers. He would not be for a novice dog owner. With time and training he is becoming a different dog. He loves car drives and swims and is quite affectionate. He is not overly reactive on leash, and can be easily distracted with treats. Ongoing training would be a must for Ajax, so he is able to continue to build on his skills in settling and ignoring distractions, and paying attention to his handler. Ajax is a 130 lb.15 month old St. Bernard/Boxer mix who came to us mid Mar 2016.
