Howdy! I’m Petey, an 8 year old, 37 lbs Jack Russell and Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen mix (I think!). I’m a perfect gentleman with great personality and looking for my new home!

I’m sad to tell you that my father recently passed away and I have come to live in foster care. The great news is that I have been very well cared for and loved throughout my life! Being a farm dog and now living in a foster home, it has been a bit of a transition but I’ve been doing so well. I’ve been learning how fun it is to play with my new foster siblings and I’m very gentle when I wrestle with smaller dogs. I also have found how much fun toys are, especially squeakers! I never destroy them because I really appreciate having them to cuddle and love.

My foster mom says I’m an old soul with a young body and bright shiny coat full of curls. My laid back attitude means I only bark when I want to come in, when the doorbell rings or when a squirrel crosses my path! I’m very obedient and quiet down as soon as you ask me to. I love to enjoy the outdoors and have been chasing squirrels and sunbathing on the deck with the warmer weather!

I consider myself to be a lover of food and I’m always around to help you in the kitchen. My foster mom has been giving me lower calorie kibble so that I can enjoy 3 meals a day, instead of 2. To get my exercise I love to trot along on walks. I don’t pull and very much enjoy meeting friends along the way. At the end of the day I curl up in my crate with the door unlocked. I love to curl up and sleep until you wake me up in the morning.

Petey is a great boy looking for his new forever family. He has been well loved and would be a great addition to a family of any age and environment. It is clear that he will fit in to a new home quickly! He is well behaved and would do well in a home with other dogs or as an only dog, at first we thought he might not be good with cats, but in fact his foster mom is sure he would be fine, he's too mellow to get all hepped up about a cat!
