Meet SINATRA-NEEDS A HOME BY 10/16!

PLEASE HELP SINATRA FIND A HOME BY October 16!! Sinatra will be attending our adoption events on Saturday, October 15 from 11-3 pm at Pet Supplies Plus, 1142 Silas Deane Highway in Wethersfield and on Sunday, October 16 from 11-3 pm at Pet Supplies Plus, 2480 Albany Avenue in West Hartford. If you are interested in adoption or have any questions, please send an e-mail and you will receive a prompt reply. Sinatra was rescued as a stray in Hartford. He is an EXTREMELY friendly, affectionate lap kitty. He tends to be confrontational and territorial with other cats. He is five years old, and has been neutered, vaccinated for rabies/distemper, and tested negative for FeLV. Unfortunately, Sinatra has tested positive for FIV. Cats with FIV can live long, healthy lives, and we hope that this will be the case for Sinatra. FIV cannot be contracted by humans, dogs, or any species other than cats. It cannot be contracted by other cats through casual contact, such as sharing food/water bowls, litter boxes, or grooming. The only two modes of transmission are intercourse (not happening if the cats are all spayed/neutered) and deep bite wounds. Please e-mail or call us if you have any questions about FIV or anything else. Sinatra also has chronic ear problems, and needs to have an ear flush squirted into his ears twice weekly, which is quite easy to do. He also has a heart murmur most likely caused by hypertropic cardiomyopathy (he has had an ultrasound of his heart). The left ventricular wall of his heart is mildly thick and the left atrium is mildly dilated. No pericardial lesions were noted, and no cardiac medications are indicated at this time. Last but not least, he also has a deviated sternabrae which manifests as a protuberance in the center of his chest. This may have been a congenital defect, or may have been caused by possible trauma to his chest. This condition does not seem to have any negative effects on him and does not need to be corrected at this time. Poor Sinatra is our resident special needs kitty, and is an extremely friendly, sweet, playful guy who needs an owner with a big heart to give him a chance to have the wonderful life that he deserves.
