Meet Darcey

Update from the foster: Darcey is really starting to come out of her shell. She is starting to act like the happy go lucky dog she should be. She greets me with her tail wagging and gives me kisses to let me know when she has to go out and do her business. She is 100% housebroken and loves to sleep during the day in her crate when she wants to nap and she sleeps in there all night without making a peep from 10 pm-7am. Darcey gently takes treats and eats her food nicely with no aggression issues at all. You can pet her, stick your hand in her food bowl while she is eating and if you take it away before she is finished, she will sit and look at you until you put it back. She has learned to sit on command and is working on giving paw for treats. Darcey is a nice calm dog in the house and very playful running around in the yard outside. There is no doubt that she will win your heart over once you meet her.

Meet Darcey! Darcey just arrived at our Butler shelter and she is a 1 year old brown and white hound mix. Darcey was rescued from a high kill shelter in North Carolina and it is apparent that she hasn't had the best start in life. She is on the thin side, recently had a litter of pups, and has an old scar down the middle of her back which we think was from some kind of chemical burn. Darcey is currently in a foster home where she is being treated like a princess so she will learn that all humans aren't so scary. Even after all she has been through Darcey still craves human attention and she will follow you around so closely that if you stop short she will bump into you. Because of her past we are recommending she be the only pet and not go to a home with young children that move around quickly and might scare her. She will probably be fine eventually in those situations but she needs time to heal from her bad past. Darcey is up to date on all of her vaccinations and she is spayed and housebroken. Darcey is not at the shelter so if you would like to meet her please email us at info@tbaw.org, call us at (973)831-5555, or send us a Facebook message at www.facebook.com/TriboroAnimal. VERY IMPORTANT - be sure to include your phone number so someone can get back to you ASAP. Darcey deserves to find a forever home with a family that will love her and give her the pampered spoiled life she so deserves to finally have!!
