11/10/2015: Sassy is a super sweet and affectionate Catahoula Leopard Dog. She loves people. Sassy is 12 years old and weighs 61 lbs. She gets along with other dogs. She would probably prefer the companionship of another senior or mellow dog rather than one who’s more rambunctious. Sadly, we are needing to find a new home for Sassy because her person passed away. She loved Sassy very much and was a dedicated volunteer here at HSGKC who we all miss very much.

Sassy is house trained. She’s pretty mellow and loves curling up on the couch with a person, but she does still enjoying playing. She also enjoys going on squirrel patrol out in the yard! Sassy has a deformed rear left leg— it’s been like that since she was very young. She gets around amazingly well on it, and she can go for short walks.

Sassy lived with another dog, Beau, and while they did play and got along pretty well, Beau did pick on her. We feel that it would probably be best if they find separate homes now. Beau is posted online as well.

Sassy has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for heartworms. She’a an absolute sweetheart and so loving. If you might be able to give her a home we would love to hear from you.

> Our goal is to send you home with a healthy pet and any information and support you may need to help your new pet adjust to his or her new home. All of our dogs & puppies have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas & ticks, tested for heartworms (7 mo. and over), and are on monthly heartworm preventative. Puppies who are too young to receive all the necessary puppy boosters and/or first rabies shot may be brought back to us for those vaccines at no extra charge. You will also receive a leash, collar, coupons for pet supplies and services, toys, and educational materials. And we'll give your dog a bath before he or she goes home!

> Please note that we prefer and may require a fenced yard for many of our dogs. Exceptions are made on an individual basis depending on the dog's needs, the person's dog experience, the dog's and person's activity levels, home environment and other factors.

> An application is required to adopt a pet and applicants must meet our adoption requirements. If you decide you'd like to adopt one of our dogs, we reserve the pet for you but we generally don't send the dog home with you that same day.
