Lucky Jack Russell Terrier & Border Collie Mix Clinton, ME

LUCKY is a smallish (approx 25 lbs) tri-color, mixed breed. We are not sure of his mix - possible wired hair Jack Russell with maybe Border Collie? He is supposedly 13 years old, but acts like he around four years old.

He was surrendered (after 13 years) by his family who had raised him from a pup, with claims that he is a "terrible" dog that is not trained.

Rebecca, the caretaker at the shelter, has a different take on Lucky's disposition.....she says he is an absolute doll - a total cuddle bug. If you are sitting down in a chair with your legs outstretched he will climb up your legs to get in your lap. He likes to nestle under your chin as well. If you are doing something, he want to know what and be right there with you:) Lucky would be a wonderful constant companion for an active retiree.

Although we never like to claim a dog is "house broken" when living in a shelter environment, Lucky has not had any accidents in his kennel.

He also knows to "sit" for his dinner (pretty impressive for an untrained dog...)

Lucky is neutered and has just been to the vet (for the first time in 8 years) to be checked out and updated on vaccines.

Seems like a pretty great little dog that for some reason has been left behind during his senior years.

We do not have any information on how he gets along with other animals, so if you are interested in bringing Lucky home, you should bring any resident dogs to meet him at the shelter before adoption.

He does not act like he cares about the dogs at the shelter one way or another - but being a small dog in a shelter filled with large dogs, we are not going to put him in a play group to find out.

This is a very sweet dog who has gotten a bum deal. Please consider adopting him.
