Meet Mitzy

December 2016 update:

Hello friends! This time of the year is my favorite! Well, yes, the holidays are fun, BUT so much has been happening lately to prepare me to find my fur-ever home!

Last week, my FM took me to a big holiday parade! We walked with my vet, Ark Animal Hospital, in the Souderton Holiday parade, and boy, oh boy, was it fun! I got to meet a lot of other fur kids and have my picture taken! I was so well behaved when I met my new friends. Some butt sniffing, but that is expected right? We are dogs after all! There were a lot of people dressed up in holiday outfits and even a dude named Santa was there! It was a one mile walk, and I did great, FM was so proud!

Then this week, my FM took me into Philadelphia to be on the NEWS for a segment called Shelter Me! That’s right, now I can add CELEBRITY DOG to my resume! A nice lady nominated Brookline to be on this show, and I was one of the stars, along with some of my other Brookline fur friends. The segment will air on Saturday, December 17 at 9:30 am on channel 6-make sure you check it out! I impressed everyone there that I met, with my good manners and pretty face. They even gave me treats, and I got to sit in front of the beautiful Christmas tree! It was so fun!

From Mitzy’s foster mom: Mitzy is doing well in foster care—she is eagerly awaiting her fur-ever home. Is that you? If you can give this girl all the love and attention that she craves, please contact kerrigkeeney@gmail.com for more information. Thanks for reading!

Despite years spent in a dark basement, sweet, petite Mitzy holds no grudges. This approximately 7 yr. old black beauty weighed in at only 36 pounds when she came into Brookline Lab Rescue, emaciated and craving human attention. She was also limping – the result of no one caring enough to have her broken leg fixed. She has thrived in foster care, loving the attention and gaining some badly needed weight. Her years of neglect are over and she is on the road to finding her forever home!

Mitzy loves nothing more than to be with her humans. In fact, that is her favorite pastime – snuggling! She will never be much of a ball retriever or tug-of-war player – she’d much prefer a belly rub or going for a long walk any day. Mitzy is happiest when someone is around. She is fine with free roam when alone, but would do best in a home where she can spend as much time as possible with her people.

Since no one was around to comfort her in her younger years, Mitzy is afraid of things like thunderstorms and firecrackers and vacuum cleaners, and the vet isn’t her favorite place to visit (but then how many of us like to go to the doctor?). She also had little chance to socialize with other dogs, so she really prefers being a princess. As a princess, she can tolerate older, calmer dogs, but would really rather not share the limelight if given the choice. Mitzy really wants your undivided attention!

So, if you want someone who loves nothing more than the wind in her ears as you drive, who will love accompanying you on long daily walks, who enjoys being brushed and pampered, and who would love nothing more than to sleep beside you, then petite Mitzy is the dog for you!
