Meet Bankie

Bankie is a Trainer Adoption: Please read description in full.

This one year old girl is off the charts friendly. She loves people and other dogs alike. She's a very high energy girl, so she'd like a home with a person or people who will give her lots of fun opportunities to use all that energy. She's a smart girl who's doing well with her training at the shelter, and would like a home where she can continue to learn new things. Bankie can be a little during play, so a home with kids around 10 and up would be a good fit for her. Come meet this beautiful girl! Please email shelter@spca914.org or trainer@spca914.org.

The SPCA of Westchester works hard to find permanent homes for our adoptable dogs. Families interested in dogs listed as “Trainer Adoptions” will work with our trainer to insure that the adoption is the correct placement for that dog. During this time, the dog’s bio will still appear on PetFinder, marked “Adoption Pending”. If another family is interested in that dog, they can fill out an adoption application and leave it for the trainer. In the event that the adoption does not work out, the next application received will be considered as the next potential candidate. The trainer will only work with one family at a time that she deems is a valid candidate for that adoption. Thank you for your understanding.

Unless noted differently above, you can come in anytime during our hours to meet and/or adopt! Our hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-4pm and Sunday's 1pm-4pm. No appointment necessary. Our adoptions are first come, first served based on the status of your application. Please note, we do NOT hold animals, nor do we accept deposits in advance. If you have discussed coming in to meet an animal or have an approved application, this does not guarantee that you will get a particular puppy or dog. If you do not bring your dog(s) to meet we cannot hold the dog you are interested in adopting.

Our address is 590 North State Road in Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510. To obtain an Adoption Application, please copy and paste the following link into your computer browser: http://www.spca914.org/adopt/animals-for-adoption or email Shelter@spca914.org. You may also visit our website at www.spca914.org or just fill out an Application when you arrive.

Please note it may be a good idea to bring a copy of your current pet(s) vaccination records (if you currently have a dog or cat or did within the last 2 years) and a copy of your lease (if you rent or own a condo/co-op/townhouse) in case we are unable to get hold of your Veterinarian or Landlord/Management Company that day.

We do same day adoptions pending approval, unless the dog is marked as a Trainer Adoption. Depending on the dog, some Trainer Adoptions can go home the same day. Families interested in dogs listed as Trainer Adoptions will work with our trainer(s) to ensure that the adoption is the best placement for that dog and all family members will be required to meet the dog. During this time, the dog will still appear on Petfinder and will be marked as “Adoption Pending”. If another family is interested in that dog, they can fill out an adoption application and submit it to the trainer. In the event the first adoption does not work out, the next application received will be considered. Our trainer(s) will only work with one family at a time for special adoptions. If a dog is a trainer adoption, this will require more than one visit to the shelter to meet with our trainer and the dog.

If a dog is considered a Staff Adoption, in most cases, the dog can be adopted the same day, but it varies case by case. Please email us at Shelter@spca914.org or call us at (914) 941-2896 ext. 11 or 15 to find out if the dog(s) you are interested in has any restrictions or special requirements prior to arrival.

All Dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated (age appropriate) and come with a free 7 day Veterinarian check from a participating Vet! High Kill Shelter Rescues, both Puppies and Adults are $350, All Puppies are $350 and Local Stray Adults over 1 year of age are $200-$350. Seniors and Lonely Hearts Club members are $75. Please visit: http://www.spca914.org/adoptanimal.htm to read our Adoption Policy and Procedures in full.
