Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia
Little Chia is a real life Chia pet – but much more fun than a seed-covered stone pot!
Now two years old, little Chia was suffering from mange and neglect when she was rescued out of the medical room at the North Central Shelter. With good food, medication and lots of love, she started to sprout hair just like her namesake. She is beautiful! Her demodectic mange has cleared up totally! (Demodex is not contagious to other animals or humans and treated with medication easily administered once a day in her food.)
Chia is a Chihuahua mix – mixed with what, who knows? Our best guess is a super model because of her lovely long legs! She loves everyone. She plays with the other dogs in her foster home, and her puppy antics and curiosity provide constant entertainment. Like all puppies her age, Chia pretty much has two speeds – high and off. She plays hard and crashes hard. She’s also an affectionate little cuddle bug who loves to chew on your toes and your nose, then smother you with kisses!
Chia sleeps quietly in her crate through the night but, given the opportunity, she loves to snuggle next to you under the covers. She only weighs about 7 pounds.
An ideal home for Chia will continue her socialization and take her to an obedience class so she can learn basic commands and grow into a good canine citizen. Because of her small size, we will only consider an adult home or home with older children.
She would love a playful small to medium-sized canine sibling. Chia has not been cat tested, but given her size and her age, we expect she would be fine with felines.
Chia is up to date on her vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed.
