Meet Helen

Helen is a 9-year-old spayed black female. She is a very sweet girl.
All she wants to do is be with you and get some attention. She is not interested in running around, an easy walk once or twice a day, 2 or 3 meals and a nice bed would be super. Helen sits down for treats and takes them very gently, loves being part of everything going on, seems to be pretty well house trained. She is eating well and loves snack times. Kids 10 and up as we don't have history. Good with other dogs but unknown with cats. Helen knows some commands such as sit and come. She is easy on lead and crate trained. Helen comes from the country and has had no exposure to big cities. Placement is limited to single family stand-alone homes. If we learn she can adapt and will do well in a more urban environment we will send out an update to let you know.

Foster family reports: Miss Helen continues to settle in. She is usually found on a couch, loves to chew on antlers, and now hops up in the car and wags her tail when we unload groceries. She has started running around the yard and the Glucosamine is working as she no longer favors it or holds her leg out. She is just fabulous!!! She wants to sleep on our bed and we have convinced her to sleep on the couch in our bedroom and she happily jumps up there every night after bedtime snacks. She also loves to snuggle in my lap and get ear rubs. She was timid at first and now seems to feel a lot better with gaining weight and understanding the routine. Miss Helen loves people. She goes up to everyone with a wagging tail and smiling face. She likes to chase birds, squirrels and the chickens. The chickens' house and runs are in the dog yard and she likes to run up to them and get them to fly up, then she walks off. She has sniffed the horses and ignores them. She does not beg from us when we eat, automatically sits for treats and will offer her paw to you for a snack. She has a very soft mouth. We feed her breakfast on the deck and she wags her tail the whole time she is eating. She is house trained, sleeps all night and does not need to be crated. She walks politely on her easy walk harness. I think Helen would do great in a home with someone retired or working from home where she can be with her people to snuggle and a quiet routine. She will make someone or two a fabulous companion and loving lab!

Helen weighs 41 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with adults and/or kids ages 10 and up.
