Baby needs adopter or foster home Labrador Retriever & Terrier Mix Harvey , LA

Baby is a 3 year old female with a stellar disposition. She is housetrained, obedience trained through Doggone Express, good with children and good with other dogs. Baby is gentle, laid back, walks well on a leash and so very eager to please. This sweet heart has been at the shelter since February. She went through an obedience training program that discovered she was fearful of men in uniform and did not complete the program. However, she loved the UPS driver that came by the shelter this afternoon. This girl has been passed by adopters and overlooked as "nothing special" (overheard from a potential adopter) like most black dogs. She has become depressed, staying to the back of her kennel and has deteriorated due to shelter life. Euthanasia was being considered due to her quality of life. The staff decided to bring her up to the office area this afternoon and we saw her blossom before our very eyes. At first, she retreated and curled up in a ball under a desk; and before you knew it, she started smiling; asking for affection! Another dog in the office helped her self esteem, and this girl became more beautiful as the day went by... We are searching for a permanent home, but a foster home would be a dream for this angel as needs to leave the shelter asap to keep that smile on her face.

The Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter adoption fee is $67. Fee includes at least one round of vaccinations, mandatory spay/neuter surgery, heartworm test, and microchip.
