For many long years, Sarah lived a hard knock life.

She and her daughter, Gabby, lived outdoors in a yard, fending for themselves with only pig carcasses for food. Now they are safe at RBARI, where their first experience with human kindness was so unfamiliar to them that it actually bewildered and overwhelmed them at the start.

Sarah is a beautiful and smart 9-year-old German Shepherd who has been understandably a bit hesitant to trust that her life has truly changed for the better. She is a little nervous around new people, and initially slow to warm up. But toss a tennis ball for her and she instantly transforms into a big ecstatic puppy, catching the ball, wagging her tail, and waiting for you to throw another one. Clearly, this is the magic key to her heart and humans who play ball with her are immediately identified by Sarah as friends.

If you have big-dog experience, patience and love, than Sarah could be the dog for you. After her rough start in life, she deserves to live in a calm, loving, adult home, surrounded by comfort, warmth and good food. Sarah wants to know if you’ll be the human who will play ball with her forever.
