Mica Boxer & Terrier Mix Salem, MO

Jewel, a brindle boxer mix, entered the shelter 11/4/14 and gave birth to 9 puppies 11/8/14. They were of varied coloration and it is not known what the exact genetics are. Mica is brown with black muzzle and white toes. Mica was adopted soon after neutering and live in a home in St. Louis for about 7 months, then was returned due to allergies of a family member; they tried many things but the problem persisted and both family and Mica were very upset at this turn of events. He has adjusted well at return to shelter life, but is more than ready to go to a new home, hopefully this one forever. Mica is good looking, well maintained and of a joyful temperament. He is truly special. At the present time, Mica probably would do best in a home without small children because he is so active and has not been trained and could hurt or scare a little one in play without meaning harm. Mica is still very young and demonstrates such behavior as lacking some self-confidence, shyness and fear. This behavior can lead to his protective and guarding nature at times. Also at the present time, we believe Mica should be placed as the only dog as he is still learning dog socialization skills. Mica can do better with other dogs, but supervision and training will be required. Mica already knows some basic commands and is food motivated so training is easier. Mica also wants lots of attention and will cuddle with you. Can you be the person to enhance his development, he is worth the effort.
