Axel is a shy and gentle boy who would just like to hang out quietly with you. He isn’t much of a climber, he prefers to stay low to the ground. He’s a big fan of calm environments and chilling out. While he is occasionally ok with being held, he’d rather sit next to you than on you.

Axel may take some time to open up and overcome his shyness in a new home, but he seems to get along ok with one or two other calm cats and has been known to cuddle up with cats he knows well. While Axel looks a little bit like a Maurice Sendak drawing from “Where the Wild Things Are”, we think his little grey helmet makes him look adorable.

If you want someone to entertain you with his quirky personality, Axel is the pal for you. He's a shy guy at first, but has nothing but love to give. Once you've coaxed him out from under the bed with a few treats, he will be your best friend for life.

He's not big into playing with toys, but he does love to play hide and seek! When foster mom comes home from work, Axel will dart out of the room swiftly. When he does get spotted before he has found his ideal hiding spot, he will partake in a long staring contest as if to say "If I don't move, she can't see me!" Once he's run to find his spot, a few more rounds and new spots across the house is enough to make foster mom give up. As soon as she sits down on the couch, Axel pops up from his elusive adventure for a post-game cuddle session so that foster mom doesn't feel too bad about always losing.

His signature snuggle move is the "tuck and roll". As soon as you find that sweet back scratch spot, Axel will tuck his head into his chest and roll over to his back letting you pet his belly. Axel likes to sleep next to you or sit next to you on the couch, but when he is not soaking in all your love and affection, he is curled up nearby on a fluffy blanket to watch the spectacle.

Axel does okay with dogs and other cats, but would love a quiet home that is as chill as he is and can understand that he needs a little patience to open up. Once he breaks out of his shell, he's an affectionate kitty with a fun streak who would make a great companion.

Axel and Dolce were adopted as kittens and returned when their adopters could no longer provide the best home for them.
