Inara is a beautiful 45 lb Border Collie mix that is mostly white with black spots and a face that is half black half white. Inara was rescued from the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter, riddled with heartworms and scared to death. She started off very fearful of other dogs and people. She warmed right up to her foster mom, but it has taken time for her to warm up to other people. She is sweet as can be, but will hide from new people and often seeks solace in her crate.
This girl loves to have belly rubs and scratches behind the ears. Even though she is wary, she loves it when she gets her spot on the couch and someone comes to pet her. As long as people are patient with her, she turns into a big goofy love bug.
Inara is up to date on her vaccines and has successfully made it through heartworm treatment. She is healthy and loves to go for walks and run around with her buddies in the backyard. She has come to the realization that she loves to be with other dogs, as long as they occasionally let her be the boss. She knows sit and down and crates up beautifully. She is great on a leash, and needs some exercise in order to really focus and to calm her nerves.
Inara is a bit fearful of sudden movements and noises, and tries to stay outside sometimes when her foster parents ask her to come in. As long as she has a leash and is approached in a patient manner, she is fantastic at listening and taking cues.
In order for Inara to be the perfect pet (as we think she can be), she needs some good training, attention, and patience. It might take a bit of time, but she will be so loyal and sweet.
