Meet Tiki

Tiki is an approximately 11 year old, ,15 lb Chihuahua mix whose elderly owner isn’t able to take care of him anymore. He is very affectionate and loves to be petted and give kisses, but does not generally like to be picked up or carried. He absolutely loves to go outside and go on long walks. He walks great on a leash, with no tugging or pulling and no aggression to anyone or any dogs on the walks as others pass by.

His ideal home would be with a retired person, or someone who works at home, or works only part time. He is housebroken and crate trained. He’ll bark for a minute if someone knocks on the door, but stops as soon as he is told to do so. He is okay being left alone for 4-5 hours a day. He would be ok with a mellow older dog, but not a young energetic dog. As with many older dogs, he does best with no children.

He has a couple minor medical issues: poor vision in one eye and he eats special canned food from the vet to make sure he doesn’t get a urinary infection. Otherwise he’s healthy and active. According to his foster mom who has been helping his owner manage until a new home can be found, he’s a great little dog. She wanted to keep him, but her schedule wouldn’t allow it.

If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our dog adoption application here: http://www.medfieldshelter.com/adoption-forms/dog.

We do not charge an adoption fee for our senior pets.

Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash and a month's worth of heartworm preventative.

With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.

All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have one employee. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.
