Meet Ellie

Adorable, sweet, gentle and goofy Ellie came to the shelter in September 2014 after being rescued from an atrocious situation in Blackstone, MA that was all over the news. With all she has been through she is still the sweetest, friendliest and most playful dog and our volunteers all love her. She is approximately 4 years old and is spayed and current on all vet care.

Shortly after coming into our care she found a wonderful home with three kids, three cats and another Bloodhound. She also had some surgery to fix a problem that caused her terrible eye pain. She has been a very loved family pet, but her family is in the process of adopting two small children that also really need them and think Ellie would be better off with a family that can devote more time to training and exercising her. They are heartbroken over this decision and we have assured them we would find her as good and loving a home as they have given her for the last 7 months.

She is trainable and has learned to enjoy spending time in her crate, however, she is a counter surfer and will go through the trash whenever she has the opportunity (no doubt that was how she survived her time in her first home). She loves to be outside, and would love to have a fenced yard. She is very lovable and loves to sit in laps, even though she is much too big to be a lap dog. She needs a family that has the time to train her and teach her more house manners while still giving her all the love she deserves.

If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out the dog adoption application on this page of our website: http://medfieldshelter.com/dog_applications/new

Ellie's adoption fee is $150. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash and a month's worth of heartworm preventative.
With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.
All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have one employee. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.
