9/9/14 UPDATE Well Charlie has proved us right. He is one eager learner. He has already learned the down command and also gives paw. When you whistle for him he does come. This is only being done in a large fenced in area.
9/2/14 Charlie is the newest addition to the All Creatures family. He was picked up as a stray and when his hold time was up and no one had come to claim him, the DCO brought him to All Creatures so he could find a new home. We believe Charlie to be a Catahoula Leopard Dog. This is a working breed dog and he will need plenty of exercise with a fenced in yard. Charlie may have experienced some abuse and he takes just a little time to realize no one is going to hurt him. Charlie does know the sit command and will give paw. He likes his treats and takes them gently. Since Charlie appears to be food motivated along with his intelligence, he should learn new commands quite quickly. He has an appointment to be vet checked, brought utd on shots and neutered on September 9. He will be ready to go to his new home after Sept.9.
