Pogo/adoption pending Beagle & Miniature Pinscher Mix Medfield, MA

Pogo is an energetic, friendly, funny, sweet, affectionate dog. He is 2.5 years old and weighs approximately 25 lbs. He was part of a busy household in the past and seems to enjoy the company of other dogs. He has been in a foster home for a couple of days and with a lot of good walks he has calmed down a lot. He loves to play fetch with a tennis ball or a squeaky toy, as well as tug of war. He loves his Kong filled with peanut butter. He loves to run in the yard and is super fast, and sometimes he bounces along almost like a Gazelle (but Pogo is a cuter name!). All dogs need exercise and especially young, energetic breeds like Pogo, and then they need rules/boundaries, and then affection. He is a smart, agile dog, and takes to training fairly well as long as the person is consistent, patient and assertive. His foster person reports that in only a couple of days he is much more obedient than he was at first. He is motivated by food and is eager to please, even if he doesn't always know what you want him to do, he will learn with the right person. He is lovable and loyal and silly and an all around great dog who has a lot of love to give. He has a little bit of separation anxiety but that is something that he can be trained out of with the right person. Pogo deserves a home that will give him the exercise, rules and love that he needs and wants, so he can continue to learn to be a balanced, calm dog...he already has the fun part down! He is neutered and updated on his vet care.

Our dog adoption fee for dogs 6 years old or younger is $350. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash and a month's worth of heartworm preventative.
With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.
All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have one employee. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.
