Sweet Coby is possibly a Border Collie/Rough Collie mix. That's our best guess and Coby is unconcerned with what she is and more all about WHO she is. And who she is is adorable! She really is an all-around nice, nice girl who will make some lucky home a fabulous, devoted companion.

Coby is just about 45 to 50 pounds, so a lovely size for snuggles on the couch and, if you're so inclined, to share your bed. Although Coby is 9 years old, you would never know it to see her in action! Coby runs up and down the stairs, loves to play fetch and can run and keep up with dogs 2-3 years old, no problem. No one can believe she is 9 years old when they meet her.

She is cat friendly to cats that are dog savvy but may chase one to play if a cat were not used to dogs and ran away from her a lot. Because of her BC/RC style of "herding play" (she gets excited and happy and tends to bounce and play nip sometimes) she needs to be with older kids. But kids 10+ or so would be find with her as long as they are herding dog savvy and understand how herding dogs play. She has been with the fosters much younger grandchildren and is gentle and sweet with them so even younger children that have been around dogs before would be fine. Coby is a very sweet girl and loves everyone.

Coby wants to be wherever you are. She will follow you from room to room and absolutely loves to be cuddled and petted. She really is happiest being with her human friends. She loves her toys and will be thrilled to have someone to play Squeaky Ball with.

Coby will be happiest as an only dog. As she's settled into her foster home she's firmly decided she likes things just fine as the only dog in the home and would like to keep things that way. Her foster mom says she's a super easy girl to have around and Coby is really happy with all the love and attention she gets all by herself.

Currently, Coby has some on-leash issues. When she meets another dog on walks she runs to the end of the leash and barks loud and forcefully! This is a fairly common issue (leash reactivity) and can be handled several ways. Sometimes it can be resolved with training but others prefer to get most of their exercise in the backyard, playing ball and chase and not going for walks in urban or suburban areas (or walking later at night/early morning to avoid other dogs if possible).

Coby is totally housetrained and can be trusted loose in the house. She would prefer not to be crated and since she can easily be left alone, loose, this is really not a problem. Coby seldom barks, unless someone is at the door and then like most Border Collies or Rough Collies, she'll alert bark to let everyone know there is a knock at the door! But other than that, she's a very quiet girl! She's friendly with everyone who comes to the house and is happy to let them pet her and tell her how adorable she is. Coby LOVES men in particular (she'd love to find a home with two dads!) but she's sweet with everyone she meets.
