Do you love teaching your dogs new tricks? When you picture your forever friend are they full of fun outgoing energy?! Look no further! Hi! I'm Buster! I am a 5 year old Border collie mix tripod. My path first crossed with the Humane Society of the Palouse four years ago when my owners at that time brought me into Animal Clinic to be euthanized. They couldn’t afford the surgery to amputate my leg after I jumped out of the back of their pickup. Animal Clinic contacted HSOP and they agreed right away to do my surgery and find me a new forever home. I was adopted out after healing from my surgery and life was good! Unfortunately after a few years, my adopter decided that married life was too difficult to manage with me. They were feeding me table scraps which resulted in me being overweight; which you don’t really want to have happen with a three legged dog. The Humane Society received a call from my adopter telling them that he had decided to euthanize me after a home they had sent me to was no longer an option. I was re-homed to two young adults who had the best intentions. Unfortunately they did not know that they were not allowed to have pets at their residence. They had me two days before surrendering me back to the Humane Society. I have been passed from home to home. This isn’t due to complications from my amputation, or behavior problems. I just had the rotten luck of going to homes that were not able to make the commit to owning a dog.
I love to play fetch! I will play and play and play!! Good thing too, it will help get some of my extra weight off. I am house trained and well mannered. I do talk a lot to the volunteers and patrons of the shelter. I just want some attention and for someone to through the ball for me. I have done well with all the dogs they have introduced me to here at the Humane Society. I also do well with the office cats here. They are very comfortable around strange dogs and do not react at all. I am not a huge fun of cuddling. I will, but it takes a while for me to bond enough to enjoy being cuddled. This could be a result of how many homes I have had.
I love to learn new tricks with my fetch toys. The staff has set aside toys just for me that they use to train me with. Just ask, they would love to answer any questions you may have about this.
