Elvis (Oscar) Yorkshire Terrier & Poodle Mix Aurora, CO

Meet our new rescue dog, Elvis! He is a possible mix of Yorkie/Poodle/Maltese and/or Bichon. He's around one year old and weighs about six pounds. Elvis is white with apricot coloring. Elvis has a lot of training to catch up on, as he is not house trained yet. He is also learning how to behave in a crate and on a leash. He gets along with other dogs, though he is extremely fearful. He has not been observed with kids or cats as of yet. Elvis acts scared with all people, no matter what age or gender, at this point in time.

Elvis does not know any commands yet. He will sit calmly on his foster mom's lap if she holds him there, but otherwise he's very scared. He's not eating very much yet, but it's his first week in foster care. Elvis will need time to recover from his past. He does pretty well when getting a bath and being brushed. He is too nervous to take treats right now. Sometimes Elvis will walk on his hind legs when he's feeling brave. He does not bark very often.

Elvis was a stray with another ARR rescue dog, Presley. They were both scared to death! Elvis runs from people and throws himself against the wall if cornered, or he digs under his bed to hide even when it's hot. Outside, he runs under a bush and digs as far as he can go. His foster mom said it is disturbing and sad to see!! Elvis is not eating very much either. His foster mom gave him scrambled eggs that he did eat after a while but only when he was completely alone.

Elvis is young and has good teeth. He is very skinny and will need to put on a couple of pounds. It will take some time to turn Elvis' life around – a lot of holding, talking softly and petting him as much as possible and as many times a day as possible. It will take a very special person who knows about these types of issues in dogs to rehabilitate sweet Elvis. Are you that person who is ready to save this sweet baby?
